CM Shri Sai inaugurates Basketball Stadium, Cricket Academy and Climbing Wall in Jashpur

Chief Minister inaugurated three major sports infrastructures in Jashpur — a Multipurpose Indoor Basketball Stadium, a Cricket Academy and a Climbing Wall Stadium — and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at providing structured training and professional support to athletes. The initiatives are expected to create a comprehensive sports ecosystem in the district and promote grassroots talent.
The Multipurpose Indoor Basketball Stadium worth Rs 3.52 crore has been developed as a modern all-weather facility with for practising basketball, as well as chess, carom and table tennis. The stadium is equipped with wooden flooring, seating arrangements and provision for multiple indoor sports.
The Cricket Academy has been established to nurture emerging players through structured coaching. To promote cricket in Jashpur, an MoU has also been signed between Municipal Council and Green Cricket Jashpur to enable local players to receive structured training and improved resources.
The Climbing Wall Stadium for indoor sports worth Rs 27 lakh in Jashpur. It introduces a specialized adventure sports facility with an artificial climbing wall designed to national training standards. The infrastructure is expected to promote sport climbing among youth, encourage participation in emerging sports disciplines and host training camps as well as competitions.
With support from the district administration and Deshdekha Sports Climbing Group, 15 players from Jashpur are being trained in mountaineering by five master trainers. Trainer Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, certified by the Professional Climbing Guide Institute, USA, said modern, safe training is being conducted at the indoor stadium, with technical support from Shri Tejal Bhagat, Shri Rusnath Bhagat, Shri Sachin Kujur, and Shri Prateek Nayak.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said, “Developing diverse dimensions of sports and connecting youth with new opportunities is a priority of the state government, and adventure sports help build confidence, courage and discipline among young people.”
The programme was attended by Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Shri Rampratap Singh, District Panchayat President Shri Salik Sai, Municipal Council President Shri Arvind Bhagat, Shri Krishna Rai, Municipal Vice President Shri Yash Pratap Singh Judev, District Panchayat President Shri Shaurya Pratap Singh Judev, Janpad Panchayat President Shri Gangaram Bhagat, Shri Vijay Aditya Singh Judev, Surguja Commissioner Shri Narendra Dugga, IG Shri Deepak Kumar Jha, District Collector Shri Rohit Vyas, Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Lal Umed Singh, DFO Shri Shashi Kumar, District Panchayat CEO Shri Abhishek Kumar, along with players and coaches were present.
