iPhone 16 series not to support 8K recording reveals new leak ahead launch
A big revelation regarding the iPhone 16 series is coming out before the launch. Support for 8K video recording will be missing this time too in the models of the series (via) Is. When the company brought a 48MP main camera in iPhone 14 Pro, fans hoped that now 8K video recording would also be possible in it. 8K video recording couldn’t be done with a 12MP sensor. This requires a resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels which works out to a total of approximately 33.2 million pixels. But Apple phones come with less storage, hence supporting this feature becomes difficult.
Another problem with Apple is that its 10-bit ProRes recording requires a lot of storage. According to TrendForce report, the company may increase the base storage to 256GB in the iPhone 16 Pro, but this is not enough for 10-bit ProRes recording in 8K resolution. Whereas a 1-minute 10-bit ProRes 1080P recording requires 1.7GB of space. Whereas recording 1 minute in 4K will require 6GB of space. Because of this, Apple phones fall short in terms of storage.
However, if other leaks are to be believed, there will definitely be an upgrade in video recording. 4K 120fps recording feature can be given in iPhone 16 Pro. Which was limited to only 4K 60fps recording in the series released last year. In this series, the company can also provide a new image format which is called JPEG XL. This is a next generation format that offers better compression and quality. However, now the launch of the series is awaited, after which it will become clear what special the company is going to offer in the upcoming series.
