What is BrahMos MA Supersonic Missile testing expected from 2026 range features

BrahMos-MA Supersonic Missile: India has such a ‘Brahmastra’ in the form of BrahMos missile, which makes the whole world tremble. This supersonic missile has been jointly developed by India and Russia. Now a report says that the India-Russia joint venture is planning to start testing its new air-launched supersonic missile, ‘BrahMos-MA’ in the next two years. What is ‘BrahMos-MA’ missile? How much will this increase India’s military strength? Let us know.

What is BrahmMos?

According to reports, BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile of India. It has been made by BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between Russia and India. Russian company NPO Mashinostronia and the Indian Government’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) work together to develop the missile. The missile is used by the Indian Air Force, Navy and Army.

BrahMos-NG will now become BrahMos-MA

According to the report of Eurasian Times, work on BrahMos-MA has not started yet. Earlier this missile was being developed under the name BrahMos-NG. This development has been going on for many years. Recently, BrahMos JV co-director Alexander Maksichev announced the creation of BrahMos-MA.

He said that now we are working on the air-launched version of the missile. We are in the phase of developing working design documentation. If everything goes well, we will start testing the missile within two years. (Statement translated from Russian to English and then to Hindi)

BrahMos-MA Features

According to the report, BrahMos-NG or BrahMos-MA will be a smaller version of the existing BrahMos missile. The range of the new missile is estimated to be 290 kilometers. It will be at least 3 meters shorter and 50 percent lighter than the recent version of BrahMos. Its weight will be 1206 kg, whereas the weight of the currently available BrahMos missile is about 2500 kg.

Will fit on Tejas aircraft! Will rain disaster on the enemy

According to the report, BrahMos Company CEO Atul Dinkar Rane had announced last year that the new missile would be installed on the LCA Tejas aircraft. However, during development, this missile will first be fitted on aircraft manufactured by Russia. Later it will be installed on light combat aircraft made in India. Apart from LCA Tejas, this missile can also be installed in Sukhoi aircraft.

The low weight of BrahMos-MA will also make it capable of being fired from under the sea. If everything goes well, testing of the missile can start by the year 2026.
