Samsung recalls over 1 million electric ovens in US due to fire risk

In America, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has said that this faulty knob has been found to be the cause of about 250 incidents of fire. In 18 of these incidents, people have suffered serious property damage. This means that houses have suffered huge damage. More than 40 people were injured, out of which 8 needed hospital treatment. Even 7 domestic pets died in these fire incidents.
The agency found a faulty oven knob to be linked to the incidents. This knob turns on even unintentionally, for which only a light touch is enough. This malfunction is causing major incidents of fire.
Samsung has taken responsibility for this problem and is now recalling the sold ovens to fix it. The company is now providing knob lock and cover along with them so that such incidents do not happen in future. Also, for ovens with Wi-Fi features, the company has also included a notification feature which can be used through the SmartThings app. It sends an alert to the user when the oven starts.
