Satellite imagery found hidden archaeological treasures in India’s Mahabodhi temple
According to media reports, an Indian official told news agency PTI that satellite study has found evidence of the presence of archaeological treasures under the soil in the areas around this place.
The pictures received from satellite show structures on the north side of the temple, which are buried underground. Images have revealed that several centuries ago the monastery would have been surrounded by a moat and settlement. This study has not been published yet. More work is going on on this.
Today a temple is located in the existing Mahabodhi Temple complex. Its height is 55 meters. It is one of the 6 holy places associated with the life of Buddha and is included in the UNESCO heritage sites. spacedotcom Quoting UNESCO, it has been written that this is one of the oldest brick-made Buddhist temples in India, whose history dates back to the 5th or 6th century AD.
An Indian Institute and Cardiff University are collaborating in the new research being done on the Mahabodhi Temple. The satellite imagery being talked about has not been revealed yet. The picture will emerge after the research paper is published. It has also not been told which satellite’s help has been taken for imagery.
