Spacex Crew 9 mission Freedom capsule reached ISS to bring Sunita Williams
The Crew-9 mission was initially scheduled to launch in mid-August, but Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft got stuck on the ISS, due to which the Crew-9 mission was delayed by more than a month.
When the American space agency NASA decided that the Starliner spacecraft would be brought to Earth without a crew, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore remained on the ISS. After this, changes had to be made in the Crew-9 mission also. The mission has been designed in such a way that two astronauts go into space and when they return, they will also be accompanied by Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore.
According to Space.com, usually SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule takes 4 people to the space station, but NASA has sent only two astronauts in the Crew-9 mission to bring Sunita and Butch to Earth in the spacecraft. There is space left.
Sunita and Butch reached the International Space Station in June this year. Both of them flew in Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft. Their mission was proposed for 10 days. Later, due to a malfunction in the Starliner, the astronauts had to stay in the space station.
The Freedom Capsule which has reached the space station will return to Earth by February next year, only then Sunita and Butch will also be able to return. Currently the number of astronauts on the space station is 11.
