Fake Flipkart Delivery Guy Tries to Scam Customer Bought iPhone 15 Heres All Details

E-commerce delivery scams are nothing new. These scams increase from time to time, especially during big e-commerce sales during the festive season. Till now people were getting soap or brick instead of mobile phone or other products and now a shocking incident has been reported from Bengaluru, where a customer narrowly escaped from a big scam. The case involved a fake Flipkart delivery agent who attempted to hand over a sealed box to this customer, claiming it contained an order ordered by his sister. iPhone 15 Is.

This customer has detailed the entire incident in a long post on Reddit, where he narrated how a fake Flipkart delivery agent tried to dupe him. The Bengaluru-based man said in his post that his sister had made advance payment for an iPhone on Flipkart and had chosen the open-box delivery option. For those who don’t know, let us tell you that in the Flipkart open-box delivery system, the delivery person opens the package himself and checks it before handing over the item to the customer and only if everything is fine, he marks it as delivered.

However, the fake agent refused to open the box and show it to the customer. The customer started recording it on his mobile phone, in which the delivery person is heard refusing to open the package. Later the customer also checked the order status on Flipkart’s website, where open-box delivery was shown. Additionally, he contacted customer service to report the incident. Minutes after the fake delivery agent left, Flipkart’s official delivery executive reached the resident’s home with the genuine package.

In his post the person wrote, (translated) “My sister bought iPhone 15 with VIP membership in Flipkart sale, it was an open box delivery. This person came to deliver a large package claiming he could not do open-box work. We have to accept it as it is. I refused, he called some random people, they said there was no such facility.

The post further read, “He was very scared because I had recorded all this. Telling your partners in crime in Kannada that I have recorded everything. I did not accept the package, within two minutes another man came to deliver a much smaller package and said he would take the open box. The post further stated that the customer received the product because he recorded everything, otherwise he would have received something else instead of the product.

The Reddit post has been viewed hundreds of times and is making headlines on social media. Certainly, this will add another big story to the rapidly increasing e-commerce scam incidents and will increase distrust. Gadgets 360 would advise you to take only open-box delivery (only on Flipkart) of your important packages to avoid such incidents. For this, you should also record the delivery person opening the box. Additionally, if you shop from any other e-commerce platform, it is a good option to record a video from the beginning when you open the delivery, which you can use as evidence in case something goes wrong.
