Smartphone is Stealing Younger Generations Their Childhood, Prince Harry

Prince Harry, a member of the British royal family, says that smartphones are taking away the childhood of youth. Prince Harry, who spreads awareness about mental health, said, “This is becoming a big problem. Many apps are designed in such a way that they can keep children online for as long as possible.” Prince Harry gave his views on the problem of smartphones in an interview given to social psychologist Jonathan Haidt on Mental Health Day.

He said that many parents have told him that they give phones to their children at an early age to keep them safe. Prince Harry said, “Parents want their children to have a phone in case of an emergency at school. If the child has a phone, even if you tell them not to download an app, they will still use it.” Social media companies will easily find a way to download and blame parents for this.”

Prince Harry said, “When online, children feel more connected with strangers on social media. If you are a parent, how do you know that your child is safe on social media?” Adults also need to be cautious about the use of smartphones. Recently, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has found some security-related shortcomings in the Android operating system. According to the advisory issued in this regard, these vulnerabilities in Android can give cyber attackers the means to apply code of their choice on the targeted system. CERT-In has placed these vulnerabilities at a higher level of severity, indicating greater risk to users.

Smartphones and tablets running Android versions 12, 12L, 13, 14 and 15 are at risk. If your smartphone or tablet is running on these versions then there may be problems with your device. This advisory states that this threat is due to deficiencies in Android’s framework, system, Google Play system updates, Imagination Technologies components, MediaTek components, Qualcomm components, and Qualcomm closed-source components.
