Tablets Getting Huge Demand, International Tablet Shipments Register More than 20 Percent Growth, Apple, Lenovo, Samsung, Vivo

The use of tablets has increased rapidly in the last few years. Tablet shipments in the third quarter of this year have increased by about 20.4 percent on a year-on-year basis. Some device makers like Samsung have also integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) related features into tablets.

According to the report of market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), international shipments of tablets have increased by about 20.6 percent to about 3.96 crore units in the third quarter of the current year. In the same period last year, these shipments were 3.29 crore units. It has been said in this report that AI features are also a major reason behind the increase in demand for tablets. American devices maker Apple Has shipped approximately 1.26 crore tablets in the third quarter. This is an increase of approximately 1.4 percent on a year-on-year basis.

Samsung’s tablet shipments stood at around 71 lakh units. This is approximately 18.3 percent higher on a year-on-year basis. In the last quarter, the company introduced Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S10+ with AI features. E-commerce and technology company Amazon has updated the Fire HD 8 tablet with AI features. The company has shipped approximately 46 lakh tablets in the third quarter. This is an increase of 111.4 percent on year-on-year basis. However, Amazon got a major part of these sales from the Prime Day sale. Huge discounts are offered on products in this sale. Chinese electronics maker Huawei has shipped about 33 lakh tablets.

Apple’s iPad is getting strong demand. iPad sales have increased almost 10 times in Amazon’s recently held Great Indian Festival Sale. With this, the sales of Samsung tablets have increased by almost five times. Saurabh Srivastava, vice president of Amazon’s unit in the country, said, “Apple and Samsung’s products have received a good response in the tablets segment. The sales of Apple’s tablets have increased almost 10 times on a year-on-year basis and those of Samsung’s.” It has increased almost five times.” More than 85 percent of the customers in this festival sale were from non-metro cities.
