Raipur, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that workers lay a strong foundation for society and the nation through their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Despite facing difficult circumstances themselves, they help create better lives and infrastructure for others, making them the true builders of the nation.

The Chief Minister was addressing the Meritorious Student Felicitation Ceremony organised by the Labour Department at the New Circuit House in Raipur on June 5.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai honoured 22 meritorious students from registered construction labourer families who secured positions in the Top 10 merit list of the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education. Under the Mukhyamantri Noni-Babu Medhavi Shiksha Sahayata Yojana, each student received financial assistance of Rs. 2 lakh.

Among the awardees were nine students from Class 10 and thirteen students from Class 12, representing districts including Raipur, Mahasamund, Durg, Gariaband, Sakti, Balodabazar, Raigarh and Kanker.

Congratulating the students, the Chief Minister said their success is not merely an individual achievement but an inspiring story of the struggle, hard work and determination of labour families. He said the students had brought pride to Chhattisgarh by excelling academically despite challenging circumstances. Encouraging the students, he said they should never consider themselves inferior to anyone. History is filled with examples of remarkable individuals who emerged from ordinary backgrounds and reached the highest levels of success through education, dedication and perseverance.

Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the government’s vision is to ensure that the children of workers do not remain confined to traditional labour occupations but go on to become doctors, engineers, administrators, scientists and leaders who contribute to the development of Chhattisgarh and the nation. He urged students to remain committed to continuous learning, discipline and their goals.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is implementing nearly 70 welfare schemes aimed at the social, economic and educational upliftment of workers from birth to old age. He encouraged labour families to make the most of these schemes and appealed to beneficiaries to raise awareness among workers who are still not receiving benefits.

Sharing his experience as a former Union Minister of State for Labour, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always been highly sensitive towards the welfare of workers and the labour community. He recalled that during his tenure in the Union Government from 2014 to 2019, he had the opportunity to closely observe labour reforms and participate in several important decisions benefiting workers. He highlighted the introduction of the Universal Provident Fund (PF) Number system, which allows workers to retain a single PF account throughout their employment journey, making access to provident fund benefits easier. He also mentioned important initiatives undertaken under Prime Minister Shri Modi’s leadership, including improvements in minimum pension provisions and worker healthcare protection.
